Are there any special offers?

A monthly coupon is available on the admissions page.

A free sand jar is offered to those children who complete the coloring page found on the admissions page.

Discount coupons and coloring sheets are not valid for group or field trip programs.

Can I drop off my child for the day and leave?

For the safety of our visitors, we require that adults accompany children under the age of 18, and children under the age of 18 must accompany adults when visiting the Muncie Children’s Museum as a general admission visitor.

Can I host my child’s birthday party there?

The Muncie Children’s Museum offers a variety of birthday options for children. Visit our birthday page for more information.

Can we bring outside food into the Museum?

The Muncie Children’s Museum does not allow food and drinks on the museum floor. Lunch rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We do not guarantee space for eating lunch. The museum allows outside food for all birthday parties.

Group Visits

Group rates are available for groups with 10 children or more and require a reservation. Reservations can be made by visiting our field trip registration page or by calling
765-286-1660.

Please Note: Museum memberships may not be used with group visits.

How can I volunteer at the museum?

The Muncie Children’s Museum welcomes anyone 16 and over to volunteer. Volunteers play an important role in the museum and its community. Visit our volunteer your time page for more information.

How long does a visit take?

A trip to the Muncie Children’s Museum involves hands-on activities and imaginative play. We recommend two hours; however, time spent at the museum depends on your families specific interests.

How much does it cost to visit the Muncie Children’s Museum?

The Muncie Children’s Museum costs $8 per person ages 1-100. We offer discounted coupons on the admissions page. We offer a group rate starting at $5 per person for groups over 10.

For the safety of our visitors, we require that adults accompany children under the age of 18 and children under the age of 18 must accompany adults when visiting the Muncie Children’s Museum as a general admission visitor. For adults who would like to visit the Museum without an accompanying child, please contact Kynda Rinker, krinker@munciemuseum.com to arrange a visit.

Is the museum handicap accessible?

Yes, all hallways and restrooms are handicap accessible. Those who need assistance to the museum’s upper level can gain access to the elevator by visiting the front desk.

What age range is appropriate?

The Muncie Children’s Museum strives to provide fun for all ages. Specifically we target children up to age 8 years old and their families. The museum’s Tot Spot area is designed specifically for families with infants and toddlers up to age 5.

What are the hours?

The Muncie Children’s Museum is open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday. The museum is closed on Mondays & Tuesdays.

The 3rd Saturday of each month is Free Saturday. Our hours are 10:00am-5pm.

During winter months, please check our Facebook page for any weather-related closings.

What can my family do at the Muncie Children’s Museum?

The Muncie Children’s Museum offers many hands-on and interactive exhibits. We offer a variety of programs for visiting families each day. Visit our calendar page to see what activities are happening on a particular day.

What does the museum do to support teachers?

The Muncie Children’s Museum offers five different programs available for children kindergarten to third grade. We offer special Teaching Through Tot Spot programs for children in Pre-K. The Museum is working to create pre and post activities for teachers to use in their classrooms before visiting the museum. Teachers interested in learning more about the museum can contact Mitchell Gibson, Director of Museum Floor Operations, at mgibson@munciemuseum.com.

Where does the museum get its financial support?

The Muncie Children’s Museum depends on a variety of funding sources to sustain its operations and programming each year.  Private gifts, corporate support, grants and fundraising events such as A Night at the MuseumChildren’s Health Fair and Amazing Elf Adventure provide 48% of the annual budget.  34% comes from earned income including admissions, group tours, birthday party rentals and gift shop sales.  18% of the annual budget is supported through endowment funds.  Efforts to increase funding support include: develop a stronger grant program, expand business membership, corporate sponsorship and annual campaign support, host more fundraising events and heighten awareness of the museum to increase attendance.

Why should I consider becoming a museum member?

Becoming a member of the Muncie Children’s Museum provides many benefits.  As a member of the museum you gain free admission into the museum along with museums outside of 90 miles participating in the ASTC program. Families considering buying a membership are encouraged to visit the museum. Admission for the day will be included in membership cost.
